Crochet

This is the picture of the watermelon.

Video Tutorial Part 1

  • Make a slip knot
  • Chain 10 (ends 0:40)
  • Slip stitch to the first chain (ends 1:03)
  • Chain 4 more (ends 1:26)
  • Slip stitch to the first chain again (ends 1:38)
  • Now you have 2 chain loops, like a figure 8. Going forward, work in the smaller of the 2 chain loops
  • Chain 1, turn your work, and single crochet 5 times in the center of the chain loop (ends 2:24)
  • Chain 1, turn your work, and single crochet 2 times in each stitch (this is called an increase when looking at the chart at the end of the page), ending with 10 stitches (and drop the video recording equipment for an unceremonious end). Scroll down to begin part 2.

Video Tutorial Part 2

  • Chain 1, turn your work, and single crochet 2 times in each stitch, ending with 10 stitches
  • Chain 1, turn your work, (single crochet in the next stitch, single crochet 2 times in the next stitch), keep alternating 1 and then 2 across to the end. You will have 15 stitches.

Video Tutorial Part 3

  • Time to colour change. Take the second colour, and pull it through to finish the last stitch
  • Chain 1, turn your work, (single crochet in the next 2 stitches, single crochet 2 times in the next stitch), keep alternating 1, then 1, then 2 across to the end. You will have 20 stitches.
  • Time to colour change again. Take the third colour, and pull it through to finish the last stitch
  • Chain 1, turn your work, (single crochet in the next 3 stitches, single crochet 2 times in the next stitch), keep alternating 1, then 1, then 1, then 2 across to the end. You will have 25 stitches.
  • To finish the work, chain 2 more chains, cut the yarn about 6 inches long, and pull the tail of the yarn through
